Awei Y520 soundbar with separate subwoofer for TV

Best Soundbar for TV in Jordan 2026: Awei Y520 Review and Buying Guide

Looking for the best sound bar for your TV in Jordan? Thin TVs leave little room for speakers, so voices can sound flat and action scenes small. A soundbar or a compact TV speaker system fixes that with bigger drivers, more power and often a separate subwoofer.

This guide explains what matters when you choose: channels (2.0, 2.1, 5.1), the subwoofer, HDMI ARC and eARC versus optical, Dolby Atmos and room size. Then it covers the soundbars, TV speakers and cables we sell at NaserTech (متجر نصر) in Jordan, with a closer look at the Awei Y520.

How to choose the best soundbar for your TV

Channels: 2.0, 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1

The first number is the main channels and ".1" is a subwoofer for low bass.

  • 2.0: left and right only. Clearer than TV speakers, but bass is limited.
  • 2.1: left and right plus a subwoofer. The most popular TV upgrade, because the subwoofer adds the weight you feel in films, matches and games.
  • 3.1: adds a center channel for dialogue, so voices are easier to follow.
  • 5.1: adds two rear surround speakers for real surround effects, but needs more space and cabling.

Subwoofer: do you need one?

A slim bar cannot move much air, so a separate subwoofer handles the deepest notes. For action films, sports or a large living room, a 2.1 soundbar with a subwoofer makes the biggest difference. In a small bedroom, or an apartment where bass may disturb neighbors, a bar without one is often enough.

Connection: HDMI ARC, eARC, optical, AUX or Bluetooth

  • HDMI ARC: one HDMI cable between the TV port labeled ARC and the soundbar. With HDMI-CEC on, the TV remote controls the soundbar's volume. ARC carries stereo and compressed 5.1 such as Dolby Digital.
  • HDMI eARC: a newer version with more bandwidth for lossless formats such as Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos. Both TV and soundbar need eARC for the full benefit.
  • Optical (Toslink): a reliable digital link for stereo and compressed 5.1 (Dolby Digital, DTS). It carries no control signals, so you usually use the soundbar's own remote. Coaxial digital plays a similar role.
  • AUX (3.5mm) or RCA: analog stereo, simple and universal.
  • Bluetooth: no cable, but it can add a slight delay between picture and sound.

In short: use HDMI ARC or eARC when both your TV and soundbar have it, and optical when they don't. Check the back of your TV before you buy.

Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos adds height, so effects can seem to come from above. You need Atmos content, a TV that passes it on (usually over HDMI eARC or ARC) and a soundbar that clearly states Atmos support. A "Dolby Atmos" label on a TV refers to the TV itself. The soundbars we currently sell do not list Dolby Atmos, so we don't present them as Atmos models.

Room size, power and bar width

Watts are not a perfect measure of loudness, but they help compare similar models. A 2.0 bar or compact 2.1 set suits a bedroom; a 2.1 soundbar with a subwoofer suits an average living room or majlis; a large or open-plan room needs more power and a subwoofer. A bar looks best when it is about as wide as the TV or slightly narrower, and low enough not to block the picture or the TV's remote sensor.

Best soundbars for TV in Jordan

Awei Y520 soundbar review: 2.1 sound with a subwoofer

Awei Y520 soundbar with separate subwoofer for TV

The Awei Y520 pairs a bar with four 57mm square speakers with a separate subwoofer that has a 6.5-inch driver. Total output is 100W: 2 × 30W in the bar plus 50W from the subwoofer, the classic 2.1 layout. Listed frequency response is 20Hz–20kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 90dB or more.

Inputs include HDMI, optical, coaxial, AUX and USB, plus Bluetooth 5.0 with up to 10 meters range, and it comes with a remote. The bar measures 986 × 73 × 70 mm, roughly the width of a 43-inch TV, and the subwoofer 400 × 120 × 290 mm. The description lists HDMI without saying ARC, so if you want TV-remote volume control over HDMI ARC, the Y990 states it clearly; over optical, the Y520 works with practically any TV that has an optical output.

Good for: living rooms, films and sports, and anyone who wants real bass.

Awei Y990: HDMI ARC soundbar in one bar

Awei Y990 100W soundbar with HDMI ARC

The Awei Y990 is a 100W soundbar with four full-frequency speakers and two tweeters, and no separate subwoofer box. It lists HDMI ARC, optical, coaxial, AUX and USB inputs, Bluetooth 5.0 and a remote. Frequency response is 60Hz–20kHz and it measures 960 × 59 × 100.8 mm.

Good for: a tidy HDMI ARC setup in rooms with no space for a subwoofer.

Awei Y999: simple soundbar with AUX and Bluetooth

The Awei Y999 is a 50W soundbar (2 × 25W) with Bluetooth 5.0 + EDR, an AUX input, a USB flash drive input, buttons and a remote. It measures 900 × 93.5 × 71 mm. It does not list optical or HDMI, so connect it to the TV's 3.5mm audio output with an AUX cable, or over Bluetooth if your TV supports it.

Good for: bedroom TVs, older TVs with a headphone jack, and music from your phone.

Cables and adapters to connect TV sound

UGREEN Toslink optical cable AV108

UGREEN Toslink optical audio cable for TV and soundbar

The UGREEN AV108 has a fiber-optic core that is not affected by electrical interference or ground loop noise. It supports stereo PCM, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 (not Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio), with gold-plated plugs, a braided jacket and lengths of 1 to 3 meters. Good for: connecting the Y520 or Y990 to a TV's optical output.

UGREEN HDMI 2.1 cable HD140

The UGREEN HD140 is a 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 cable (8K@60Hz, 4K@120Hz) that supports eARC and passes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X from the TV to a soundbar or AV receiver. Good for: HDMI ARC and eARC soundbars.

UGREEN digital to analog converter 30523

If your TV has only an optical or coaxial output but your speakers accept only analog sound, the UGREEN 30523 converts the digital signal to analog. Simple converters like this handle stereo PCM, so set the TV's digital audio output to PCM if you hear nothing. Good for: TVs without a headphone jack and AUX speakers or amplifiers.

UGREEN 3.5mm to 2RCA cable AV170

The UGREEN AV170 links a 3.5mm output to red and white RCA inputs, works in both directions and comes in 1 to 3 meters. Good for: a TV headphone output to an amplifier or speakers with RCA inputs.

UGREEN Bluetooth aptX transmitter and receiver 70158

The UGREEN 70158 adds Bluetooth to a TV that lacks it: it takes sound from the TV's optical or 3.5mm output and sends it to two Bluetooth headphones or speakers at once, with aptX Low Latency to reduce lip-sync delay when the headphones support it. Its battery lasts up to 15 hours in transmitter mode, or it can run from the TV's USB port. Good for: late-night TV with wireless headphones.

Best soundbar for a Samsung TV

Any of the soundbars above works with a Samsung TV; what matters is the connection:

  1. HDMI ARC: use the TV port labeled HDMI IN (ARC). If sound doesn't switch, turn on Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) under Settings, General, External Device Manager.
  2. Optical: connect the TV's optical output to the soundbar, set the soundbar to optical, then choose the optical option in Settings, Sound, Sound Output.
  3. Bluetooth: put the soundbar in pairing mode, then choose Bluetooth Speaker List in Settings, Sound, Sound Output.

Menu names vary slightly by model year, and Samsung's Q-Symphony feature works only with compatible Samsung soundbars. If you are also buying a TV, the Samsung 55" U8000F lists eARC/ARC support and Bluetooth 5.3.

Where to put a soundbar: under or on top of the TV?

The best spot is centered directly under the screen, at the front edge of the TV unit and not inside a closed cabinet, so sound seems to come from the picture. Mounting a soundbar above the TV works when there is no space below, but voices may seem to come from above, so keep it close to the screen and centered. Don't balance a bar on top of a thin TV; use a shelf or bracket. Our soundbar descriptions don't mention a wall bracket, so ask us before ordering if you need to wall-mount. Place the subwoofer on the floor near the front; corners add bass but can make it boomy.

Tips for better TV sound

  • Turn off the TV speakers in the sound output menu to avoid an echo.
  • No sound over a digital link? Set the TV's digital audio format to PCM.
  • If lips and voices are out of sync, use HDMI or optical instead of Bluetooth, or adjust the TV's audio delay.
  • Lower the subwoofer level at night.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best sound bar for a TV?

For most living rooms, a 2.1 soundbar with a subwoofer is the upgrade you will notice most. The Awei Y520 is a strong choice for this, and the Awei Y990 suits buyers who want HDMI ARC in one bar.

Awei Y520 soundbar review: what do you get?

A 100W 2.1 system: a 2 × 30W bar with four 57mm speakers, a 50W subwoofer with a 6.5-inch driver, HDMI, optical, coaxial, AUX and USB inputs, Bluetooth 5.0 and a remote.

What is the best soundbar for a Samsung TV?

Any soundbar with a connection your Samsung TV has: HDMI ARC (Awei Y990), optical (Awei Y520 or Y990) or Bluetooth. Then select it in Settings, Sound, Sound Output.

What is the best sound system for a TV: soundbar or speakers?

A soundbar is simpler: one bar, one remote and usually one cable. Separate speakers with an amplifier can sound wider but need more cables and space.

What are the best TV speakers for a small room?

A compact bar like the Awei Y999 or a small 2.1 set like the Meetion SP2110.

HDMI ARC or optical: which is better?

HDMI ARC is more convenient because the TV remote controls the soundbar, and eARC adds lossless and Atmos formats. For stereo and standard 5.1, optical sounds just as good.

Can I mount a soundbar on top of the TV?

Yes, on the wall or a shelf above the screen when there is no space below, but under the TV is better. Avoid resting it on the TV itself.
