The HP Smart Tank 580 is a colour inkjet all-in-one printer that prints, copies and scans. Instead of cartridges it uses refillable ink tanks filled from bottles, and it connects over Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct or USB. HP rates it at up to 12 ppm in black and 5 ppm in colour (A4, ISO).
Print, copy and scan: One device covers everyday printing, copying and flatbed scanning at up to 1200 dpi, so you do not need a separate scanner or copier for everyday documents.
Refillable ink tank system: The printer uses 4 ink supplies: one black bottle and a set of 3 colour bottles (cyan, magenta, yellow), poured into the built-in tanks. Refilling from bottles instead of replacing cartridges lowers the running cost per page, according to HP.
Print quality: Black prints reach up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi, and colour up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi when printing from a computer.
Wireless and mobile printing: Built-in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct let you print without a cable. From a phone or tablet you can print with the HP Smart app, Apple AirPrint or Mopria, and a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port is available for a direct computer connection.
Paper handling: The input tray holds up to 100 sheets and the output tray up to 30 sheets. Double-sided printing is manual (with driver support).
Good to know
Two-sided printing is manual, not automatic. Wireless works on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Scanning is flatbed only (no automatic document feeder).
