Outdoor Wifi Access Point AC1200 /EAP225-Outdoor

The TP-Link Omada EAP225-Outdoor is an AC1200 dual-band Wi-Fi 5 access point for outdoor and indoor installation. It delivers up to 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps on 5 GHz, has one Gigabit Ethernet port powered by 802.3af PoE or 24 V passive PoE (adapter included), and is managed through the Omada app and Omada controllers.

AC1200 dual-band with MU-MIMO: The access point uses 802.11ac with MU-MIMO, so it can serve several clients at the same time on 5 GHz, while 2.4 GHz covers older devices and longer distances. Band steering moves dual-band phones to 5 GHz, and airtime fairness stops slow devices from holding up the rest of the network.

Built for outdoor installation: The weatherproof enclosure and the pole/wall mounting kit (included) let you install it outside on a pole or a wall. The two external omni antennas are detachable.

PoE power options: Power and data run over one Ethernet cable. You can power it from an 802.3af PoE switch, or use the included 24 V passive PoE adapter where there is no PoE switch, so you do not need a power socket at the mounting point.

Omada management, mesh and roaming: The EAP225-Outdoor works with the Omada app, the Omada Software Controller, Omada hardware controllers (OC200/OC300) and the Omada cloud-based controller, so many access points can be set up and monitored from one place. Omada Mesh and seamless roaming are supported, and it offers up to 16 SSIDs (8 per band), captive portal, SSID-to-VLAN mapping and rogue AP detection for guest and business networks.

Good to know

  • The Ethernet port is Gigabit; the wireless standard is Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), not Wi-Fi 6.
  • Several hardware versions exist (V1, V3, V4). TP-Link lists IP68 for the enclosure on V3 and V4; V4 also accepts 802.3at PoE.
  • Coverage and speed in practice depend on antenna placement, obstacles and the clients used.
