The TP-Link TL-SG1048 is an unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch with 48 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports and a switching capacity of 96 Gbps. It comes in a standard 19-inch rack-mountable steel case, which suits larger offices and departments that need many wired connections in one place.

48 Gigabit ports: Every port runs at up to 1000 Mbps and is also compatible with older 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps devices. This lets you move an existing network up to Gigabit speed while older devices keep working.

Non-blocking, wire-speed performance: TP-Link specifies a non-blocking architecture that forwards and filters packets at full wire speed, with a packet forwarding rate of 71.4 Mpps. IEEE 802.3x flow control helps prevent data loss when traffic is heavy.

Plug and play: No configuration is needed: connect the cables and power, and the switch starts working. Auto MDI/MDIX removes the need for crossover cables, and auto-negotiation detects whether each device runs at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps.

Energy-efficient design: TP-Link's green technology automatically adjusts power consumption according to the link status, which lowers power use when ports are idle.

Good to know

This is an unmanaged switch: it has no web interface, VLAN or other settings to configure. TP-Link has made several hardware versions of the TL-SG1048; the MAC address table, jumbo frame size and cooling differ between versions, so they are not listed here.
