The TP-Link RE450 is a dual-band Wi-Fi range extender that plugs into a wall socket and repeats your router's Wi-Fi into rooms where the signal is weak. It is rated AC1750, with up to 1300 Mbps on 5 GHz and 450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and it has three external antennas and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

Dual-band AC1750 Wi-Fi: The RE450 works on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time. The 5 GHz band (up to 1300 Mbps) gives the higher speeds for streaming and gaming, while the 2.4 GHz band (up to 450 Mbps) reaches further through walls for everyday browsing.

Three external antennas: Three adjustable antennas send and receive the extended signal. You can angle them to suit the room for a more reliable connection in the area you want to cover.

Gigabit Ethernet port: The RJ45 port runs at up to 1000 Mbps. Connect a smart TV, game console or computer to it with a cable, and the extender links that wired device to your Wi-Fi network.

Access Point mode: If a room already has a network cable from your router, plug it into the RE450 and it creates a new dual-band Wi-Fi access point from that wired connection.

Quick setup and signal light: Press the WPS button on your router and then the button on the extender to pair them without typing a password. The signal light then helps you choose a spot, between the router and the weak area, where the extender still receives a good signal.

Who it's for / Works with

Homes and offices where the router's Wi-Fi does not reach every room. TP-Link states that the RE450 works with any standard Wi-Fi router or wireless access point.

Good to know

The extender repeats your router's signal, so real speeds depend on the router and on where the extender is placed; the rates above are maximum wireless link rates. TP-Link lists several hardware versions of the RE450, and EasyMesh support appears only on the newer ones, so check the version on the box label if you need mesh.
