The TP-Link Archer GE400 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 gaming router. It delivers up to 5765 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (BE6500) through six external antennas, and has two 2.5 Gbps ports (one WAN, one LAN) plus three Gigabit LAN ports and a USB 3.0 port. Gaming acceleration, a dedicated Game Panel and RGB lighting are built in.

6.5 Gbps Wi-Fi 7: With Multi-Link Operation (MLO), 4K-QAM and Multi-RUs, Wi-Fi 7 devices get faster and more stable connections with lower latency, which matters for online games and streaming. Older Wi-Fi devices still connect normally.

Six antennas with Beamforming: Six high-performance external antennas and Beamforming focus the signal toward your devices for wider coverage and reliable connections. TP-Link rates it for 3-bedroom houses.

Two 2.5G ports: A 2.5 Gbps WAN port lets you use a multi-gig internet plan, and a 2.5 Gbps LAN port gives a gaming PC or NAS a faster-than-gigabit wired link. Three more Gigabit LAN ports connect consoles and TVs.

Game acceleration and Game Panel: The router accelerates game applications, game devices (with the gaming port), mobile games and game servers to reduce lag and jitter. The Game Panel shows network status, router performance, RGB settings and accelerated games and devices.

EasyMesh, HomeShield and VPN: Build a mesh network with EasyMesh-compatible routers and extenders. HomeShield provides network security and parental controls (advanced features need a paid subscription). OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP and WireGuard VPN server and client are supported, plus a USB 3.0 port for file sharing (FTP/Samba/media server). Manage it from the Tether app or a web browser.

Gamers and busy homes with fast fiber internet who want Wi-Fi 7, multi-gig wired ports and gaming features in one router. It works in router mode or access point mode, with EasyMesh devices, and with Alexa and Google Assistant.

Good to know

• Dual-band only (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz); no 6 GHz band.
• Wi-Fi 7 features need Wi-Fi 7 clients. Wi-Fi rates are maximum physical rates; real speed depends on your line, devices and home.
• 2.5 Gbps internet needs a compatible plan and equipment. A separate modem may be needed depending on your internet line.
