The TP-Link Deco X90 (2-pack) is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh system: two Deco X90 units work together as one network with a single Wi-Fi name, replacing a router and range extenders. Its AX6600 Wi-Fi reaches up to 4804 Mbps + 1201 Mbps on its two 5 GHz bands and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and each unit has one 2.5 Gbps port and one Gigabit port. TP-Link rates the 2-pack for 4–6+ bedroom houses.

Key Features

Tri-band AX6600 Wi-Fi 6: A second 5 GHz band (4804 Mbps, HE160) is added to the usual 5 GHz (1201 Mbps) and 2.4 GHz (574 Mbps) bands, with 8 streams in total. More bands means devices are spread out and the Deco units have more capacity to talk to each other, so speed holds up when many devices are online. TP-Link states connections for up to 200 devices.

Smart antennas for a stronger backhaul: Each unit has 4 internal high-gain antennas plus 2 smart antennas. The smart antennas detect the other Deco unit and focus the signal toward it, giving a stronger link between the units and better coverage at the far end of the home.

2.5 Gbps port: Every unit has 1× 2.5 Gbps port and 1× Gigabit port with WAN/LAN auto-sensing. Use the 2.5 Gbps port for a fast fiber line, or plug a PC, smart TV or game console in for a fast wired connection. You can also link the units by cable (optional Ethernet backhaul).

AI-Driven Mesh and seamless roaming: The system learns your home network and moves your phone or laptop to the best unit as you walk around, with one Wi-Fi name throughout. Roaming needs clients that support 802.11k/v/r.

TP-Link HomeShield and the Deco app: Set up and manage the system from the Deco app: see connected devices, create a guest network, prioritize devices (QoS) and use parental controls. HomeShield adds network and IoT protection; the Basic plan is free and the Pro plan is paid. Deco X90 works with every other Deco model to expand coverage later.

Who it's for / Works with

Large homes and multi-floor houses with many connected devices that need fast Wi-Fi in every room, and homes with a fast fiber line that can use the 2.5 Gbps port. It works as a router or in access point mode behind an existing router, and combines with any other Deco unit.

Good to know

• Wi-Fi rates are maximum physical rates per TP-Link; real speed, coverage and device count depend on your home and devices. Wi-Fi 6 features need Wi-Fi 6 clients, and 160 MHz may be unavailable in some countries.
• All ports work as WAN or LAN, but only one port can be the WAN port at a time. 2.5 Gbps internet needs a compatible plan and equipment.
• A separate modem may be needed depending on your internet line. HomeShield Pro features require a paid subscription.
