The TP-Link ER605 (hardware V2) is an Omada Gigabit VPN router for small and medium business networks. It has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, of which up to three can be used as WAN ports with load balancing, a USB 2.0 port for a 4G/3G modem as backup WAN, and site-to-site and remote-access VPN. It is a wired router without built-in Wi-Fi.

Five Gigabit ports, up to three WAN: The port layout is 1 Gigabit WAN, 2 Gigabit WAN/LAN and 2 Gigabit LAN ports. Connecting up to three internet lines with load balancing raises the use of multi-line broadband, and link backup keeps the office online if one line fails.

USB WAN backup: A USB 2.0 port accepts a supported 4G/3G USB modem (LTE dongle) as a backup internet connection.

Secure VPN: Up to 20 LAN-to-LAN IPsec VPN tunnels connect branch offices securely, and PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN servers let staff connect to the office network from outside.

Omada SDN and cloud management: The ER605 integrates with the Omada SDN platform for zero-touch provisioning, centralized cloud management and monitoring together with Omada access points and switches. This requires an Omada controller (hardware, software or cloud-based).

Business security features: An SPI firewall, DoS and flood defense, IP/MAC/URL filtering, IP-MAC binding and ARP inspection help protect the network and data.

Small and medium business networks; Omada hardware controllers (OC200/OC300), the Omada Software Controller or the Omada cloud-based controller, the Omada app (through a controller), and supported 4G/3G USB modems for backup WAN.

Good to know

• It is a wired VPN router and does not provide Wi-Fi; add an access point for wireless.
• Cloud access, zero-touch provisioning and the Omada app require an Omada controller.
• Only USB modems on TP-Link's compatibility list are supported for USB WAN backup.
