The TP-Link TL-WA1801 is an AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point for homes and small offices. Connected to your router by an Ethernet cable, it creates a strong Wi-Fi network with up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, through four external antennas and a Gigabit port that also accepts Passive PoE.
AX1800 Wi-Fi 6: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) on both bands gives up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, so newer phones and laptops get faster, more efficient connections while older Wi-Fi devices still work.
Four antennas with Beamforming: The four external antennas and Beamforming focus the signal toward connected devices to extend Wi-Fi coverage in a home, shop or office.
Gigabit port with Passive PoE: The single Gigabit Ethernet port carries both data and power when you use the included Passive PoE injector, so the access point can be installed away from a power socket with just one cable. It can also be powered by its own 48V adapter.
Four operating modes: Access Point (default), Range Extender, Client and Multi-SSID modes let it create a new Wi-Fi network, repeat an existing one, connect a wired device such as a TV or console to Wi-Fi, or broadcast several separate network names.
WPA3 security: WPA3 is supported along with WPA/WPA2 and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise encryption.
Captive portal and easy management: A captive portal page can greet guests before they get internet access, which suits cafés and small businesses. Set up and manage it with the TP-Link Tether app or a web browser.
Who it's for / Works with
Any router or switch with a free Ethernet port. In Range Extender mode it repeats an existing Wi-Fi network, and in Client mode it connects a wired device to Wi-Fi.
Good to know
- The PoE input is Passive PoE (used with the included injector), not 802.3af/at PoE.
- This is an access point, not a router: it needs an existing router for internet access.
- Wi-Fi speeds are maximum physical rates from the IEEE standard; real speeds vary.
