EZVIZ Camera Disadvantages and Advantages: Honest FAQ for Jordan
If you are looking up EZVIZ camera disadvantages before you buy in Jordan, this guide gives you a straight answer. EZVIZ cameras are popular in Jordan because they are quick to set up from a phone, but like every Wi-Fi camera brand they come with trade-offs: cloud recording is a paid plan, everything remote depends on your internet, and the memory card and app account have rules you should know about. Below we list the real limitations (checked against EZVIZ's own support pages), the models that work around each one, and answers to the most common EZVIZ app, login and troubleshooting questions.
For the basics (who makes EZVIZ, which app to use and first-time pairing), see our short EZVIZ FAQ. For model-by-model buying advice, see our best EZVIZ indoor camera guide.
EZVIZ camera disadvantages: an honest list
1. Cloud recording is a paid subscription
EZVIZ's cloud service is called CloudPlay. According to EZVIZ, it saves motion-triggered clips to the cloud and becomes a paid monthly or yearly plan after the free trial. The history is event-based (3, 7 or 30 days depending on the plan), not continuous 24/7 recording. EZVIZ also says plans and availability vary by country, so check what the EZVIZ app offers for your account. The good news: CloudPlay is optional. Live view and app alerts work without it, and you can record locally on a microSD card or an EZVIZ NVR.
2. Remote viewing depends on your internet and Wi-Fi
Watching from outside the home, receiving alerts and uploading to the cloud all need a working internet connection; EZVIZ recommends an average upload speed of about 2 Mbps or better for reliable cloud uploads. Many EZVIZ Wi-Fi cameras work on 2.4 GHz only (the H1C and H3c listings, for example, specify 2.4 GHz), and a weak signal through thick walls is a common cause of "Device is offline" messages. Where Wi-Fi is the problem, choose a model with an Ethernet port, PoE or a 4G SIM.
3. The microSD card is extra and has limits
Local recording needs a microSD card that is bought separately. The maximum size depends on the model: the H1C, H5 4G and H8c PoE 2K listings, for example, state up to 512GB. EZVIZ recommends Class 10 or UHS-I cards, formatted as FAT32 below 64GB and exFAT for 64GB and above. Remember that a card inside the camera goes with the camera if it is stolen or damaged, which is why some users add an NVR or a cloud plan as a backup. Our micro SD and hard drive guide explains how to choose the card.
4. One owner account, and the region is fixed
A camera is added to one owner account, and family members get access through the app's Share feature. If a camera is still linked to someone else's account, that owner has to remove it from their app (Device Settings, then Delete Device) before you can add it. EZVIZ also states that an account's region cannot be changed after registration (you would need a new account), so choose your region carefully when you sign up.
5. Remote live view times out
When you watch through EZVIZ's servers, live view and playback stop after about 5 minutes and you tap "Continue" to keep watching. EZVIZ says viewing over the same local network (LAN live view) avoids this time-out.
6. Smart-speaker linking needs Image Encryption turned off
To link EZVIZ cameras with Amazon Alexa or Google Home, EZVIZ's instructions ask you to turn off Image Encryption on the camera first. That is a privacy trade-off worth knowing about, and voice or smart-display support also depends on the model.
7. Built around the EZVIZ app and cloud
EZVIZ consumer cameras are designed to be used with the EZVIZ app and platform (the H3c listing, for example, names the EZVIZ Cloud Proprietary Protocol). If you plan to mix them with professional recorders or third-party software, check compatibility first. For local recording of several EZVIZ Wi-Fi cameras, an EZVIZ wireless NVR is the simpler route.
8. Battery cameras need charging
Battery models remove the power cable, but they still need recharging from time to time. A solar panel made for EZVIZ battery cameras reduces how often you have to do it.

EZVIZ advantages, and models that work around the limits
To be fair, EZVIZ also does a lot well: app-based setup, AI person detection on many models, two-way audio, colour night vision and a wide range of indoor, outdoor, 4G, PoE and battery cameras. These models from our EZVIZ range each solve one of the problems above.
EZVIZ H1C: simple indoor Wi-Fi camera
The H1C records Full HD 1080p with a 108° diagonal view and infrared night vision up to 10 m. It has two-way talk, a magnetic mount, USB Type-C power and supports microSD cards up to 512GB. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Good for: a bedroom, shop counter or entrance where you need a clear basic view.
EZVIZ H6C 4MP (2K+): pan-tilt indoor camera
The H6C rotates automatically to cover the room, with a patrol mode you can customise. Human detection lets you get alerts only when a person is seen, so moving curtains do not keep triggering notifications, and a touch call button lets family call you from the camera. Good for: living rooms and checking on children or elderly parents.
EZVIZ H8c Pro 2K: outdoor pan-tilt Wi-Fi camera
This outdoor model offers 2K video, 350° pan and 80° tilt, AI human and vehicle detection with auto-zoom tracking, colour night vision, two-way audio and a siren with strobe light. It is IP65 rated and works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Good for: yards, garages and villa surroundings with good Wi-Fi coverage.
EZVIZ H3c 3MP: fixed outdoor camera with an Ethernet port
The H3c is IP67 rated, works from -30°C to 60°C and has infrared night vision up to 30 m, plus custom detection areas and smart alerts for people and cars. Besides 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi it has an RJ45 wired network port, so you can use a cable where Wi-Fi is weak. Good for: driveways, entrances and farms.
EZVIZ H8c 4G and H5 4G: no Wi-Fi needed
The H8c 4G connects through a 4G SIM card or an RJ45 Ethernet cable, with 2K video, 360° pan-tilt coverage, AI human and vehicle detection, colour night vision and microSD for local recording. The H5 4G is a 2K camera with an IP67 housing, siren and strobe light, two-way talk and microSD up to 512GB; its cloud option is EZVIZ CloudPlay, which requires a subscription. Both need a SIM with a data package. Good for: farms, chalets and sites without internet.
EZVIZ EB3 4G and the EZVIZ 12W Solar Panel
The EB3 4G combines a large built-in battery with 4G connectivity, 2304 × 1296 video, colour night vision up to 15 m, a siren and spotlights in a weatherproof body. The EZVIZ 12W Solar Panel has a 37Wh built-in battery, two USB-A outputs to power two cameras, IP65 protection and battery monitoring in the EZVIZ app for compatible cameras; check compatibility on its product page before pairing. Good for: places with neither power nor Wi-Fi.
EZVIZ H8c PoE 2K: one cable for power and data
This version takes power and data over a single Ethernet cable (PoE) or a 12V DC adapter. It has human shape detection with auto tracking, infrared night vision up to 30 m, microSD up to 512GB and a weatherproof design. The network cable and PoE switch are not included. Good for: shops, warehouses and villas where Wi-Fi is unreliable.
EZVIZ X5S-4W NVR: local recording without the cloud
The X5S-4W wireless NVR records up to four Wi-Fi cameras onto a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive from 1TB to 8TB (drive not included), with H.265 compression, motion and scheduled recording, ONVIF support and HDMI and VGA outputs for a monitor. Good for: keeping footage at home and watching several cameras on a screen.
EZVIZ app, account and viewing on PC or TV
EZVIZ camera app and download
The EZVIZ app is free on the App Store and Google Play. From it you watch live video, talk through cameras with two-way audio, play back recordings and receive alerts. If alerts do not arrive, make sure Alarm Notification is enabled in the camera's settings and that phone notifications are allowed for the app. To give family access, use the Share option; the other person must accept the invitation.
EZVIZ login and account security
You sign in with the email address or phone number you registered. If you see "Account username or password error", check the account and region, remember the password is case-sensitive, and use "Forgot password" on the login screen if needed. You can enable two-step verification so signing in on a new phone needs a code sent by email or SMS. Videos are protected by Image Encryption: the default password is the six-letter verification code on the camera's label, and you can recover it in the app by email or SMS.
EZVIZ for PC: EZVIZ Studio
For a computer, EZVIZ provides EZVIZ Studio for Windows. You sign in with the same EZVIZ account, watch live views and play back memory card recordings from the Gallery; exporting recordings is supported on some models only.
EZVIZ on TV and smart displays
EZVIZ cameras can be linked to Amazon Alexa and Google Home. On an Amazon Echo Show with a compatible camera you can say "Alexa, show me [camera name]". Remember that linking requires Image Encryption to be off. Another route to a big screen is an EZVIZ NVR with HDMI output connected to a TV or monitor.
EZVIZ outdoor cameras in Jordan's weather
For outdoor use, check the IP rating on each product page: the H8c Pro 2K is IP65, while the H3c and H5 4G are IP67. Mounting the camera under an overhang reduces direct sun, rain and dust on the lens.
EZVIZ troubleshooting
The app says "Device is offline"
Following EZVIZ's steps: refresh the app's home page, restart your router, then unplug the camera for 10 to 30 seconds and plug it back in. If it is still offline, check the Wi-Fi signal where the camera is mounted, try a less crowded Wi-Fi channel, then reset the camera (hold the reset button for a few seconds) and add it again. If your camera supports 2.4 GHz only, connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz network during setup.
The memory card is not recognised
Use a Class 10 or UHS-I microSD card, format it as FAT32 (below 64GB) or exFAT (64GB and above), then initialise it from the camera's storage settings in the app.
Frequently asked questions
What are the disadvantages of EZVIZ cameras?
The main ones are: cloud recording needs a paid CloudPlay plan, remote viewing and alerts depend on your internet and Wi-Fi (many models are 2.4 GHz only), the microSD card is extra with model-specific limits, the account region cannot be changed, remote live view times out after about 5 minutes, and Alexa or Google Home linking needs Image Encryption off.
Do EZVIZ cameras need a subscription?
No. A subscription is only needed for CloudPlay cloud storage. Live view, alerts and microSD or NVR recording work without it.
Do EZVIZ cameras work without Wi-Fi or internet?
Without internet you cannot watch remotely, get alerts or use the cloud. If a location has no Wi-Fi, use a 4G SIM model such as the H8c 4G, H5 4G or EB3 4G, or a wired model with an Ethernet or PoE port. See also our EZVIZ cameras collection.
How many days does an EZVIZ memory card record?
It depends on the resolution and how much motion is recorded. As a rough guide, EZVIZ estimates that a 16GB card holds about 28 to 32 days for a 1080p camera that records around one hour of motion per day. Higher resolution or continuous recording fills the card much faster.
Do EZVIZ cameras support 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
Many EZVIZ cameras are 2.4 GHz only, and some newer models also support 5 GHz. Check the Wi-Fi line in the product's specifications before buying.
Is EZVIZ a good and safe brand?
EZVIZ is the smart-home camera brand that grew out of Hikvision (more in our EZVIZ FAQ). It is a strong choice for homes and small shops that want app-based simplicity. For safety, use a strong unique password, turn on two-step verification, keep Image Encryption on and keep the camera's firmware updated.
How much do EZVIZ cameras cost in Jordan?
Prices change, so they are shown on each product page in our EZVIZ collection.
