Hikvision Connect Guide: Hik-Connect Setup for Cameras, DVR and NVR in Jordan

When people in Jordan search for "Hikvision connect", they usually want one thing: to see their Hikvision cameras on their phone. Hikvision's free Hik-Connect app connects a DVR, NVR, Wi-Fi or PoE camera, video intercom or doorbell to your mobile, so you can watch live video, play back recordings, get alerts and even open the door from anywhere.

The steps below follow Hikvision's official Hik-Connect help and device manuals. Menu names vary between firmware and app versions, so pick the closest option if your wording differs.

How Hik-Connect works and what you need first

Hik-Connect is Hikvision's cloud service plus the app that uses it, and it supports DVRs, NVRs, network cameras, indoor stations and doorbells over Wi-Fi or mobile data. The device must be online, have Hik-Connect enabled and be added to your account. Prepare:

  • The app: Hik-Connect from the App Store or Google Play, listed as "Hik-Connect - for End user".
  • Internet for the device: a DVR or NVR is normally connected to the router with a LAN cable; Wi-Fi cameras and Wi-Fi intercom units join your Wi-Fi during setup.
  • An activated device: a new device asks you to create an admin password of at least 8 characters using at least three of: uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
  • Serial number and verification code: the serial number is on the device label. Some devices also print a default verification code there; otherwise you use the one you create when enabling Hik-Connect.
  • Storage: recorders need a hard drive (or a built-in eSSD) for playback. See our camera storage guide.

Step 1: Install Hik-Connect and create your account

  1. Open the app and choose the country or region where your devices are installed (Jordan). Hikvision warns this cannot be changed later, and a wrong choice can break live view, playback and alarm notifications.
  2. Tap Register, accept the terms and register with your email or mobile number.
  3. Enter the verification code you receive, create a password and log in.

Step 2: Enable Hik-Connect on a Hikvision DVR or NVR

Hik-Connect is disabled by default on recorders, which is why many people cannot connect a Hikvision DVR to mobile at first.

On the recorder's local screen

  1. Right-click, choose Menu and log in as admin.
  2. Open Platform Access: Configuration > Network > Platform Access on older firmware, or System > Network > Advanced > Platform Access on newer interfaces.
  3. Tick Enable and accept the service terms.
  4. Create a verification code: 6 to 12 letters or numbers, case-sensitive. Write it down.
  5. Click Apply. The page shows the connection status and, on many models, a QR code for the app.

From a web browser

Enter the recorder's IP address, log in, go to Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings > Platform Access, tick Enable, create the code and save. Enabling DHCP in the network settings lets the router assign the IP address, gateway and DNS automatically.

Step 3: Connect a Hikvision DVR or NVR to your mobile

  1. In Hik-Connect, tap the + icon and choose Scan QR Code.
  2. Scan the QR code on the device label or on the Platform Access page.
  3. If it will not scan, choose Manual Adding, keep the type as Hik-Connect, type the 9-digit serial number (letters in capitals) and search.
  4. Tap Add and enter the verification code. DDNS setup is optional; skip it to use the Hik-Connect service. Tap Finish.

All cameras on the recorder appear under it automatically. If the app shows a message:

  • Added by another account: unbind it first. You need the device password, and the phone should be on the same local network.
  • Offline: connect it to the network and see the troubleshooting section.
  • Not activated or Hik-Connect disabled: the app lets you create the admin password or enable the service and create a verification code, then continue.

Step 4: Connect a Hikvision camera to your mobile (Wi-Fi or wired)

For a standalone IP or Wi-Fi camera, Hikvision's camera guide says:

  1. Connect your phone to Wi-Fi, tap + and scan the QR code on the camera or its Quick Start Guide cover (or enter the serial number).
  2. Enter the verification code and tap Connect to a Network.
  3. For Wireless Connection, enter the password of the Wi-Fi your phone is using and keep the camera within 3 meters of the router during setup. For Wired Connection, connect the camera to the same router with a cable and tap Connected.
  4. Tap Add.

On the camera's web page, the same service is under Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings > Platform Access.

Step 5: Hik-Connect intercom and doorbell setup

Video intercom

  1. Connect the indoor station to your network by cable, or by Wi-Fi on Wi-Fi models.
  2. On the indoor station, open Settings, find the Hik-Connect service option (the path depends on the model), enable it and set a verification code.
  3. In the app, scan the QR code on the indoor station screen or add it by serial number. Hikvision notes that its linked door station is added automatically.

If nobody answers the indoor station for a while, the call is forwarded to the app, where you can answer and tap the open-door icon. Up to six users can watch a door station live at once.

Doorbells and villa door stations

For a Hikvision wireless doorbell, the app connects it to Wi-Fi either by letting the doorbell scan a QR code generated by the app or through access point (AP) mode; tap Connect to a Network on the result page and follow the prompts. Some wired villa door stations call your phone directly: the DS-KV6133-WME1 description says it calls the Hik-Connect app without an indoor station. EZVIZ doorbells and cameras use the separate EZVIZ app.

After setup: live view, playback and alerts

  • Live view: tap a camera; if video encryption is on, enter the verification code.
  • Playback: pick a date and time (days with recordings are marked) and up to four cameras.
  • Alerts: in device Settings, turn on Alarm Notification. Event detection, such as motion detection, must be set up on the device first.

Hik-Connect offline? Troubleshooting steps

Hikvision's support steps when Platform Access shows offline:

  • Check that Platform Access is enabled.
  • Set the preferred DNS to 8.8.8.8 and the alternate to your provider's DNS, the gateway, 8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1, then restart the device.
  • Check the IP address and gateway (DHCP is simplest), and use the recorder's network detection tool to test the gateway and DNS.
  • Make sure the router firewall is not blocking P2P and the recorder is not on its blocked list. On restricted office networks, ports 6002, 6800, 8555, 9010 and 9020 must be allowed.
  • As a last step, upgrade the firmware or restore defaults.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect my Hikvision DVR to my mobile?

Connect the DVR to your router, enable Platform Access (Hik-Connect) and create a verification code. In the app, tap +, scan the QR code on the DVR label or enter its serial number, and type the code.

Can I connect a Hikvision DVR or NVR to Wi-Fi?

Recorders normally connect to the router with a LAN cable, and the router can be Wi-Fi. Your phone then views the cameras over Wi-Fi or mobile data from anywhere.

Where do I find the Hik-Connect verification code?

Many devices have a default code on the label. Recorders start with an empty code, so use the one you created when enabling Hik-Connect; you can view or change it on the Platform Access page.

Hik-Connect says the device is added by another account. What now?

Unbind it in the app using the device password while your phone is on the same local network, or ask the previous owner or installer to delete it from their account.

Does Hik-Connect work with a Hikvision intercom or doorbell?

Yes. Add the indoor station and its door station comes with it; unanswered calls are forwarded to your phone and you can unlock the door from the call screen.

Can any CCTV camera connect to my mobile?

An analog CCTV camera connects to a DVR by coaxial cable, and the DVR connects to the internet. IP cameras connect through an NVR, or directly if they support Hik-Connect.

Can my family see the cameras on their phones?

Yes. Each person creates a Hik-Connect account. Use Share in the app, enter their email or phone number, choose cameras and permissions, and they accept the share.
